Our planned production will be directed by Christine Logan with musical direction by Peter Alexander. It will be a festival offering that will run for 3 performances only - in Sydney - hopefully in late June 2022. The translation is by May-Brit Akerholt.
We are seeking a highly experienced and expert choreographer – deft with wide-ranging stylistic scope - who can work as part of the creative team.
Endangered Productions build its production on simple, vivid designs. Our production team is developing a series of coups de theatre that can deliver the wild and fantastical imagery that Ibsen demands, particularly through the integration of substantial video projections. Movement and choreography are fundamental components of our planned production.
The anticipated performance space is very large – with three massive walls suitable for enveloping projections - while the stage space will be occupied by a movable, multi-level sculptural structure. Given some of the crowd scenes that occur in Acts 1 and 2, experience in choreographing complex movement will be important.
A small troupe of male dancers (4) feature as Trolls and other mythical creatures, dancing to music by Edvard Grieg. Several singing actors (female) will need to be able to execute effective dance movements – as well as being able to create Troll Maidens and Troll Witches within the frenzied movement of Act 2 Scene 6 - which involves a deadly chase.
As a not-for-profit company our funding is limited, but we are able to pay a modest remuneration.
Audition / Rehearsal / Production datesRehearsals will occur across March-June 2022 - and will be tightly scheduled given the number of performers that are required to create over 50 characters.
