I'm a student who is writing and producing sketches at Oxford University. This short sketch is set at a garden drinks reception immediately following a funeral. The teenage grandson of the deceased is asked to do a tribute for his grandfather, to whom he was very close. Although trying to pay homage in a fitting way, he completely misjudges the mood and the atmosphere turns from sobriety to bewilderment. I need some adult actors (preferably aged over 50) in 1-2 short speaking roles and 10 or so background roles. The speaking roles are simply friends of the deceased, paying their respects in a mournful but reassuring way. Funeral clothes all that is required. The scene is part of a series I am writing. At present, single sketches are released to some online platforms but the hope is to collate them into a show in time.
