CALL OUT FOR PERFORMERS

Calling fans of Stephen King! Bow Down to Your Queen: a tribute to the King of Horror is a journey through the dark side of the feminine that will be presented at Anywhere Festival 2021. The show will consist of live music: a selection of songs based on Stephen King's powerful female characters and interludes between songs where female and male performers take the "stage" and bring his work to life (Anywhere Festival is about theatre anywhere BUT a theatre so we're gonna rock out in three libraries!).

LOOKING FOR:
Female actors, performers, interpretive dancers. As a performer, you'll have creative freedom: you might choose one of your favourite female characters and re-enact a certain scene from a book or film... you might perform a monologue... or use your body in a character-driven interpretative dance... or something else? There will also be roles for males (think Trash Can Man falling on the floor bowing saying "My life for youooooo!" and Paul Sheldon, the writer from Misery bundled up in blankets being pushed around in a wheelchair looking, well, miserable). Full permission to dress up. Costumes would be great. Pink prom dress covered in blood anyone? How about Rita Hayworth, a moviestar bombshell from the 1940s? Someone just has to wear jeans and a flannel and swing a sledgehammer around (safely, hahaha)... Also looking for a flamboyant MC to host a Stephen King trivia segment as part of the show.

MUST HAVE:
- some interest in the work of Stephen King (ie. if not a hardcore fan, it's important to have read a book or two or seen a couple of films adapted from his work)
- availability for rehearsals and during the Anywhere Festival dates in May (more info below)
- own transport
- a willingness to travel to a variety of locations in the Moreton Bay region

REMUNERATION:
Anywhere Festival is committed to support performers with profits generated by shows. After an initial set up fee and 10% of the box office, the performers get the lion's share. What remains after expenses will be split evenly between all participants of Bow Down to Your Queen.

Audition / Rehearsal / Production dates

Anywhere Festival runs from the 6th - 21st May, 2021. Rehearsal dates will be confirmed for March and April ASAP at Caboolture Hub with regular Zoom meetings online. Performance dates below:

Job payment

Unpaid – this is a collaboration opportunity - This is a creative project in development with a lot of freedom for performers. There will be regular zoom meetings and rehearsals in Caboolture leading up to the shows in May.

Collaborations should create mutual benefit and are usually amateur, student or 'Time for Print' projects.
