The Film itself is based on a young adult (Miles Wilson, 18), doing/experiencing the world’s most powerful hallucinogenic drug on the planet (DMT) for the first time. Miles has this experience on a camping trip to the lake with two of his closest friends (Reece Mathews, 18) and (Jacob Clarke, 17).
The Film will have a raw authentic style of cinematography, with most shots being handheld (except only when necessary). The look of the Film will give off feelings of summer as most of it will be shot during sunset and at night there'll be a fire going. To add to this colour grading will mostly be made to add to the warmth (orangey/yellow colours) shots. The only time the Film will have less of a warm look to it is sometime before Miles has his trip, starting to slowly get a bit greener as the night gets more chaotic. This will carry on right until Miles has his trip, off which during his trip will contain not only a green look to it but also visual effects replicating the trip, similar in effects yet different in look to Fear of Loathing in Las Vegas.
The Film will is written, produced and edited by Film Students from The University of Salford. These students are studying in their Final Year's, they also have years of experience in each of their roles within the production, both inside and outside of the University.
The Film will be shot over the course of 2 days. Shooting will take place from the 8th to the 9th of January around evening/night time.
Shooting will take place at Nunsmere Lake (Cheshire, Cuddington), which is an estimated drive of around 30/40 minutes from Manchester. All cast and crew for this Film will be picked up from Salford Quays and drove to set, as well as this, cast and crew will also be dropped off at Salford Quays. Shooting will be around 6-7 hours per day (including multiple breaks in between). The exact times of shooting will be decided once everyone for the films got a full cast and crew. The time of shooting will be decided by both the cast and crew, based on when everyone's available.
Transport will all be paid for and plenty of food/drink will be provided (even for those with any dietary requirements).
The Film will of course be a student Film as it is being made by students. As well as this the Film will also be used alongside a few other projects to launch my own production company and will therefore be uploaded on my website as well as to YouTube and other popular social media platforms. If the Film does well, I will also be submitting into some Film festivals and other kinds of competitions.
Obviously (for anyone concerned about COVID 19) measures will be taken to keep cast and crew safe. Everyone on set will be provided with face masks and required to wear them at all times, except actors during shooting and when eating/drinking in a seating area(obviously). Hand Sanitiser will also be provided on set in an area where anyone can help themselves to it.
If anyone who's interested has any more enquires about anything please let us know. I also have full finished treatment with scene breakdowns as well as a nearly finished script for anyone who wants to look at it before deciding on whether to take the role or not.
Right, that's pretty much everything you need to know about the shoot, looking forward to hearing from the talented Sound Recorders interested in recording the Short Film.
