I was brought up in a strong background of Kapa haka ( Maori Performing Arts ), it is more so a lifestyle rather than a recreational activity and have been doing so since I can remember. This dedication to Haka enabled me to be immersed in Maori Tradition, Maori language and Maori views. Through Kapa haka and its advantages it gave me technique, coordination and basic skill to adjust into this commercial industry of entertainment. I personally think that I have a unique perspective on creative production, dance and choreography with a crossover of Maori and English concepts.
I was fully immersed in dance as soon as i started my three years of studies in Musical Theatre at Whitireia performing arts centre, from singing to Jazz and Ballet to contemporary and Hip Hop. I have been apart of numerous dance showcases as well as musical theatre productions along side some of the biggest names of entertainment in Wellington, such as Infinite dance, Circa theatre and Wellington Musical Theatre productions.
