I started to learn music at the age of 10, first with my father, Paul, then at:
Stedelijke Muziekacademie Sint-Niklaas, Bijafdeling Stekene, Belgium:
Theory grades 1-4 (equivalent to UK ABRSM grades 1-7); My pass marks were all 90%+). Attended from 1976-1980.
Stedelijke Muziekacademie Sint-Niklaas:
Theory Grade 5 (UK grade 8 equivalent); Pass mark 85% (Highly Commended);
Grade 6 (with 7 clefs reading ability, polyphonic hearing tests, harmony and composition; i.e. beyond UK grade 8, and a preparation for music conservatory); Pass mark 82% (Highly Commended). Attended from 1980-1982.
Trumpet/Cornet/Flugelhorn: There were ten instrumental grades of which the first 8 are equivalent to the UK ABRSM grades; I finished Grade 8 with 80% (Highly Commended).
Attended from 1977-1984 (Grade 1-8).
Electric Guitar:
The Guitar Institute (now the Institute of Contemporary Music - ICMP) in London:
Courses: Foundation, Intermediate I, Intermediate II, Live Performance Level III, Blues Live Performance.
