Airline Pilot - Skydiver-Hypnotist.

I have a fairly "exciting" life history which may help explain the following.

I have some experience as an extra filming "An Ungentlemanly Act" filmed on location in the
Falkland Islands, acting out the first two days of the Argentinian -Falklands invasion of 1982.
Because of my involvement with the local Defence Force, Police and my activity in working with firearms at that time, I was acting as a Falklands Defence volunteer soldier, in various clips ranging from arresting Argentinian troops, to eventually being lined up against a wall facing a firing squad. In fact I was the only one out of twelve extras who hadn't actually experienced the scenarios we were acting. During this activity, I was put in charge of firearm safety as some of the weapons being used were in working condition.

My main career has been in aviation, as an airline pilot, flying instructor, glider pilot and skydiver.
I have been invloved in acting, demonstrating, and explaining in various short clips about safety involved with commercial and recreational aviation, performing flying and skydiving stunts, as well as occasionally being interviewed on radio and television.

I am also an established stage hypnotist. With over 30 years hypnosis experience, I started going "public" on stage back in 2005, having performed several hundred shows in pubs, clubs and theatres around the UK.  Because of my aviation career, my stage work was purely part time, although I believe for a few years I became the only hypnotist in Scotland to perform in theatres, with audience numbers up to 500 at a time.

I have considerable "real acting" experience which comes from living in hostile environments, in particular when I lived and worked as a corporate pilot in the Middle east (2002-2005).
Too many occasions were tense enough that I found myself having to "act" in particular ways to avoid danger. Examples being; staying calm when terrified,  acting in ways to attract attention to myself to prevent a colleague from being noticed, and / or acting inconspicuous which in some occasions meant I had to pretend to be Arabic. (Difficult with blue eyes )

Also, this "real" acting happens all the time with my stage shows. In order to make good comedy, I constantly have to pretend I am surprised at a reaction from a volunteer or a heckler, and / or pretend everything is running smoothly when things don't quite work out as planned.

Audience feedback has taught me that I have a sort of "Tommy Cooper" approach such that I can make a blunder look like it's deliberate purely for comedy effect.

Another part of this acting makes me look deliberately "spooky", often pretending that I am somehow psychic. At the end of some shows when I have confessed to the audience that I 'm not actually psychic, on many occasions they have lectured me that I am, because my "acting" was so convincing at the start of the show.

I have been told by many that I have the sort of face which offers flexibility from appearing "friendly and harmless" to "thuggish", and especially for stage hypnosis, also "spooky and serious" with piercing eyes.

Because of my location in Aberdeen, most of my acting activities tend to be for local film producers experimenting with ambitious projects by making short movies for the Cannes Film Festival.

Also I get asked to appear in projects such as industrial safety demonstration videos for the oil industry, or making on-line advertisement / promotion for a training course .

I regularly provide instructional talks in French and English to classroom audiences, mostly technical or psychological, often including hypnosis demonstrations .

My Scottish accent is a sort of combination between Glasgow and Aberdeen, making me almost "neutral" within Scotland, giving me easy flexibility to adopt the role of a well spoken intellectual, to a "country bumpkin / village idiot"  or a rough gangster / thug.

Recent work had me acting lead role in a short movie as a "nice guy" but turning cold-callous nasty at the end (with East -European / Russian accent throughout) .
I believe this movie went to Cannes film festival .

Later (2018) I played a street preacher in a short movie / true story set in 1800s.
I believe this movie went to Cannes.

2019 saw me acting as another “nice guy” religious parent figure adopting a troubled teenager.
I believe this work was also seen at Cannes.

Additional notes ( in case of any use in filming sequence)

I own light aircraft and have access to airliners / full flight simulators .

I swim strongly ( ex swimming teacher) and trained in sub aqua diving.

I own large motorcycle.

I speak fluent French.
