Katie Richardson, Miss World Australia 2008

StarNow:	Congratulations Katie (http://www.starnow.com/534677) on winning this prestigious award, this is a fantastic achievement. How did you feel when you were crowned?
Katie:	It was very overwhelming, although you rehearse the possibility in your mind; when the announcement is actually made, it feels too good to be true. The reality of it has still not sunk in, however, I am very excited about the opportunities that have arisen, and the things that I will be able to do.

StarNow:	You obviously had that xfactor which helped you win and being an amazing dancer must have helped. What other attributes do you think assisted you in taking away this title?
Katie:	I was fortunate enough to win the Communication & Commitment section of the competition, which is judged by executing a 5 minute speech to the panel of judges, and answering a series of media like interview questions. We were also judged on etiquette, poise & presence, health & fitness, beauty with a purpose (charity contribution) and the aforementioned talent section.

StarNow:

Can you give us an example of some of the work you will be involved in this year? What are you looking forward to most?

Katie:

• I have already attended a few events, for both charity & corporate agendas. And will be attending many more charity events, the furthest booking thus far is early December.
• Lots of media commitments.
• I am going to Tokyo for a promotion with Samsung in regards to the Olympic torch relay.
• I go to China at the end of May as the face of Janssen Cosmoceuticals.
• Interstate trips to Melbourne, parts of Queensland and other states for the judging of the state finals of Miss World Australia, and other functions.
• Organising a large Charity Trivia night for the Ronald McDonald House at Randwick.
• Keynote speaking at various functions, host events, and modeling & promotional work for sponsors.
• Compete at the Miss World finals from 4th September – 4th October 2008 in Kiev, Ukraine.
